Extra credit opportunity

April 19, 2012

I forgot to mention this in class today: Last extra credit opportunity of the semester!

Psi Theta, the Communication Department’s honors society, is hosting “What’s going on in journalism today?” on Monday afternoon.

The event is designed for anyone interested in journalism or media, and will focus on the ways in which technology is changing journalism and how journalists are using technology.

  • Noon to 1 p.m.: Margie Freivogel, editor of the St. Louis Beacon, will talk about journalism in the 21st century
  • 1-2 p.m.: Amber Hinsley (yes, me) will talk about recent research on journalists & social media.

To earn up to 10 points extra credit, you can attend either session and write a 250-word summary of what you learned and how it will/might affect your future profession. (I recommend attending Margie’s session since you hear me talk all of the time.)

Due to your blog: 5 p.m. Thursday. Please email me the link to your post when it’s completed.
